Bone Collector

Image result for dry bonesDuring my morning devotional time, God told me that I was called to be a "Bone Collector", but not in the way that I understood. It took me back to something that my grandma use to say to me when I was was young; "Don't Carry Bones!" As a kid the true meaning went right over my head. My thinking was that only dogs carry bones, and I was not a dog, so .... OK grandma!
Now that I am older, strike that, wiser.... It has a deeper meaning. Carrying bones means how we gossip, and share information that is not uplifting, encouraging, or helpful. But to take it a step further, in order for us to acquire the bone, something had to die, become detached and get picked clean. For example... that single mother with multiple kids and multiple fathers that you so often talk about, she has suffered death, death in relationships, death in heartbreak, death by abandonment... She is now detached from her own self worth, ability to see herself not struggling and so much more... and the words we say pick her clean. We then go and carry the bone by putting her down, assuming we know her character, and categorizing her. I can imagine the thoughts that she deals with in her quite time. As Christians, its our job to build one another up.

Ezekiel 37: 4-10 tells us how can give life to dry bones.
"4 He said to me, “Prophesy concerning these bones and say to them: Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 This is what the Lord God says to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you will live. 6 I will put tendons on you, make flesh grow on you, and cover you with skin. I will put breath in you so that you come to life. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”7 So I prophesied as I had been commanded. While I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 As I looked, tendons appeared on them, flesh grew, and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. 9 He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath,[a] prophesy, son of man. Say to it: This is what the Lord God says: Breath, come from the four winds and breathe into these slain so that they may live!” 10 So I prophesied as He commanded me; the breath entered them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, a vast army."

Will you join me as a Bone Collector for Christ?

Be Blessed!
