The Present of Presence: Slowing Down to Truly Live This Season
There is something about this season that quietly invites us to rush.
We rush to meet deadlines.
Rush to finish projects.
Rush to make everything perfect.
And before we know it, the season we were trying so hard to manage has passed us by.
Somewhere between calendars and commitments, God gently whispers, “Slow down.”
Not because things don’t matter—but because you matter.
Give Yourself the Present of Presence
We spend so much time giving gifts to others that we forget to give one to ourselves. Presence. Undistracted, intentional presence.
Presence with God.
Presence with the people we love.
Presence with our own hearts.
Being present doesn’t require extra time—it requires attention. It’s choosing to put the phone down. Let the to-do list wait. Sit in the moment long enough to feel it.
Scripture reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness isn’t inactivity; it’s awareness. It’s recognizing that God is already here, already working, already present with us.
Deadlines Don’t Hold Memories—Moments Do
Deadlines will always exist. Lists will always refill themselves. But memories are formed in the spaces we almost rush past.
A shared laugh that catches you off guard.
A tear-filled conversation you didn’t plan for.
A hug that lingers longer than usual.
These moments don’t announce themselves as important—but they are the ones that stay.
Jesus reminded Martha that while she was busy doing, Mary chose being—and that choice mattered. Sometimes the holiest thing we can do is stop striving and sit.
Laugh. Cry. Hug. Love. Repeat.
This season isn’t asking for perfection. It’s asking for connection.
Laugh until your sides hurt.
Cry without explaining yourself.
Hug like you mean it.
Love without rushing to the next thing.
These are sacred acts. They are ways we reflect God’s heart—not by doing more, but by loving well.
When we slow down, we create space for God to meet us—not just in prayer, but in people. In conversations. In quiet moments we almost missed.
God Is Found in the Pause
We often look for God in the big, dramatic moments. But more often than not, He’s found in the pause.
In the stillness before the noise begins.
In the breath you take when you finally sit down.
In the awareness that this moment is enough.
Scripture says, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Today.
Choose What Lasts
Years from now, you won’t remember everything you checked off your list. But you will remember how it felt to be seen. To be loved. To be present.
So this season, choose memories over momentum.
Choose presence over pressure.
Choose connection over completion.
And trust that when you slow down, you’re not falling behind—you’re finally living.
Unapologetically, G. 💛
