Getting to Next — Staying the Course While You Wait

Waiting seasons are some of the hardest seasons to walk through. Not because God has forgotten us, but because He is developing something in us that “next” will require. We often think of waiting as stagnation, but in God’s hands, waiting becomes preparation. It becomes training ground, refining ground, pruning ground, strengthening ground. Waiting is not wasted. Waiting is work.

Every “next” has a demand attached to it. A new level of discipline. A new level of focus. A new level of emotional maturity. A new level of surrender. And the truth is—many times God won’t release you into “next” until what’s in you can sustain what He’s bringing to you.

Here are the pillars of “getting to next” while you wait:

1. Staying the Course Even When You Don’t See Progress

Some days you feel strong. Some days you feel stretched. Some days you feel like the promise is close. Other days it feels far away.

But still—keep going.

The enemy doesn’t fight what isn’t a threat. The delay is not denial; it’s development. God is aligning what you cannot see. Faithfulness in the unseen places is what ushers in the breakthrough in the visible places.

2. Listening for God Even When He Seems Silent

God’s silence is never absence.

Often, He is speaking through peace, discomfort, closed doors, gentle nudges, and inner knowing. When you slow down enough to breathe, you’ll notice He’s been guiding you the whole time.

Your clarity increases when your hurry decreases.

3. Watching Your Emotions

A waiting season will test your emotional balance. You will go through waves—hopeful one moment, exhausted the next. But your emotions do not replace God’s promises.

Guard your heart.

Watch what’s influencing your mood.

Be honest with yourself, but don’t be led by feelings that are temporary.

“Next” requires stability, and stability is built one surrendered moment at a time.

4. Being Intentional With Your Steps

You may not control the timing, but you do control your preparation.

Ask yourself:

What am I doing daily that supports where God is taking me?

Who am I surrounding myself with?

What habits strengthen my spirit?

What distractions weaken my focus?

Small, intentional steps stack up. Obedience in this season builds capacity for the next one.

5. Stepping Into Your “Next” When God Says Now

God’s timing is always strategic. Sometimes the shift happens suddenly; sometimes it happens quietly. But one thing is certain—when it’s time, nothing can stop it.

The key is to stay ready. Stay faithful. Stay grounded.

“Next” is not just a moment—it’s a mindset.

Your next is closer than it feels. Keep showing up for it.

Unapologetically, G.
